Myrtle escape pod

You may have noticed a lack of posts lately on Myrtle's blog. That is because we are on a one year backpacking trip around the world. (If you are interested in that adventure check out my travel blog Voyage Vixen). In Bali, we stumbled upon this lovely 1964 Vespa scooter. Both the year and the color scheme match Myrtle. It's for sale for about $2500.00 Canadian and for a moment we considered trying to import it. Eventually we would like to have a vintage motorbike/scooter/moped for Myrtle but importing one from Bali while on a year long trip seems complicated. As part of our trip we are taking a custom bicycle frame building course in the fall of 2012, and I plan on making my frame match Myrtle's color scheme.

Very nice! When I was a kid I had a Lambretta TV-175, wish I still had it. I also had a Vespa (branded as a Cushman). However, the memorie of the Lambretta outshines it!

Thanks mike. It will be interesting to see if Myrtle ends up with a 2 wheeler of her own.

As a vintage Vespa enthusiast for 30 years, I HIGHLY recommend that you do not buy any Vespa "restoration" from Asia. that includes Bali, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and/or India.

Do a quick web-search on the term "viet bodge" Vespa, and read about the nightmares.

Seriously, I don't care how shiny it is, or if they claim they rebuilt every nut and bolt....don't do it.

Thank you for your sage advice on importing a Vespa fro, Asia. We had decided against it after hearing another persons advice as well :)
