One thing to be mindful of on a long trip through rural areas is the availability of gas stations!

Our first stop was 2 nights in Waterton Lakes National Park, which is the Canadian side of the US Glacier National Park. Waterton is a favourite park with a gorgeous lake, surrounded by mountains. The townsite campground is fun with nearby shops and amenities. The Bear's Hump hike is a fave with a great view but we opted to take it easy and relax with easy bike rides around town.

Next stop was 2 nights in Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park where were we visited the interpretive centre and then explored the amazing hoodoo rock formations. We were sceptical at first as the park is quite faraway and we generally seek out mountain areas to camp versus prairie. We were pleasantly surprised by the sheer beauty of Grasslands with diverse vegetation, rolling hills, valleys, interpretive walks and bike rides, and way more wildlife than we expected. We saw bison, pronghorn, deer, coyotes, beaver, black tailed prairie dogs, and a huge assortment of birds. The prairie dogs were particularly interesting and we visited both large colonies. These prairie dogs only exist in Grasslands. They are very social animals and we had a great time watching them interact. The Ecotour Scenic Drive was another great activity, we did part by bike and part in Myrtle. The two prairie dog colonies are on the drive and there are great interpretive displays and walking trails at each stop. Right from the campground there were also some nice walking trails where we spent time bird watching and observing two beavers building their lodge. Grasslands was the highlight of the trip!

As we headed home we stopped for the night at the Medicine Hat Gas City Campground a nicely equipped and handy place to stop. We were unable to get our old fridge running so as a temporary measure we brought along the bar fridge and cooler. Normally we only camp for short periods so a cooler is fine. The bar fridge worked out well and we have a RV fridge on order.

We finally got the bathroom all set up with a Bosch Electric Mini-Tank Water Heater Tronic 3000 T 4-Gallon, new shower head and hose, shower curtain, 3M hooks to hang to toiletry bags and a Toolitries organizer on the wall. With COVID-19 we decided to primarily use our own bathroom and this was the first time using the shower. It all performed great!

We spent the days bike riding, walking, cooking and resting and evenings we watched downloaded shows on the laptop. The newly installed Lagun pivoting table is awesome for meals and watching shows. We installed a vintage table top on the Lagun device.

Another great addition is the Japanese Noren Curtain on a tension rod. We hung it up in the rear just before the bathroom which gives a great bedroom area and doesn't require us to always put up the windshield curtains. It is nice to have the windshield uncovered for the great views.

What are your comfort must haves in your camper?

voyagevixenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05960507105605134915noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8769653795464228204.post-90411506592131226692022-07-13T19:46:00.004-07:002022-07-13T19:46:20.757-07:00Double Feature

It was true a Double Feature of a camping adventure, as the poster collage illustrates; Caprizilla VS Mothra, featuring Jason and the Shit Show.

But let's start at the beginning; Monday we loaded up Myrtle and headed out for for a two nights of camping in the foothills of Kananaskis, Alberta. Myrtle and her awesome rebuilt engine (her original 318 poly stroked and bored to a 408) performed perfectly tackling the highway and mountain passes. You can really feel the extra torque and she purred along easily. We arrived at our first come first serve, off grid, provincial park campsite and found a perfect spot surrounded with large trees and lots of spaces between sites. The sites are basic with a gravel pad, fire pit and picnic table. There is no water, no electricity but there is an outhouse and water pump at the central part of the campground. But no worries, Myrtle is fully self contained with a kitchen, bathroom, running water, solar power and even an Jackery portable solar generator.

There are some great hikes around and a short walk to the river, which came in handy later. We came for the peace and quiet and time in nature so it was perfect! We enjoyed a nice lunch of potato salad I had prepared at home. We spent the afternoon lounging and organizing Myrtle for a future planned longer trip. Supper was BBQ vegan hot dogs, grilled peaches and snacks enjoyed by the campfire. A great day!

Then it began.... Jason was washing up the dinner dishes and when finished it sounded like the water pump was still going off and on. He inspected the washroom and found the toilet leaking clean water from the inlet and as he reached back to try and fix it, it sheered off in his hand leaving a jagged edge that made a 2 inch cut on his hand. He was bleeding now while trying to stem the flow of water. Due to the way the lever sheered off it was stuck inside the inlet hose making it impossible to cap. The pump was turned off while he continued to work on the inlet hose. I on the other hand was blissfuly unaware of the chaos happening inside while I was enjoying the campfire. Jason finally called me in, with a hand wrapped in tissue secured with electrical tape as we surveyed the scene. Jason performed a miracle and was able to get the stuck piece out and cap the line. We were contemplating heading home but with water restored we realized would could just water bucket the toilet and continue on the adventure. I fixed up Jason's hand with our well stocked first aid kit (well stocked due to the last fall's misadventure). By now it was dark and all the lights where on inside as the water was being restored. The lights are an important detail. Lessons learned in this chapter; travel with an extra toilet valve and a drill to make drilling out the line easier.

Oh did the adventure continue... I had been distracted by the toilet drama but now I started to notice the uncomfortable number of moths inside Myrtle, like forty of them. I started catching and releasing them outside over the next hour or so, sometimes releasing some of them multiple times as the flew back in to attack the lights. Some of them would watch me through the window, taunting me, as I carefully opened the door to toss out their compatriots. We came up with a system of lights on while I caught one, then Jason would shut off the lights and fling open the door while I sent them back into the night. We finally got out the last of them and settled down to go to bed at about 1AM. We were stewing all night wondering if we had an infestation in the camper or if they had invaded while we were distracted with the lights on working on the toilet. Lessons learned in this chapter; keep your doors shut and your lights off or you too may suffer the fate of Mothra.

The next morning was spent ripping apart the entire motorhome, every cupboard, every drawer, every bag of linens, under and being everything looking for any signs of an infestation. We have always kept our interior well sealed up with all linens in bins or sealed bags, no food left in it and we liberally use peppermint oil which is supposed to deter mice and so far it has. We found nothing and breathed a sigh of relief thinking our luck had changed.

We were wrong... After a nice breakfast, which included using the Jackery and Nespresso machine on the picnic table for mountain espresso, I noticed that suddenly the toilet was no longer flushing with the water bucket method. This was not good news. Jason spent a great deal of time plunging in the stifling hot little bathroom, with the bathroom window we don't open as its the only one with out a screen and we didn't want a return of Mothra. At this point he sent me out to find a long thin stick to try and auger out the block. In the terrible heat Jason decided to strip down to just shorts. This proved to be wise when the toilet decided to back flow and explode on one of his vigorous plunges, covering him and the bathroom with last nights BBQ. It was a shitty situation and to make matters worse, nothing, I mean nothing cleared the blocked toilet. We were again left surveying the scene and deciding what to do. We cleaned up the mess and decided a freezing cold bath in the mountain river was in order. After the arctic dip we headed back to camp, had a nice lunch and weighed our options. We decided we would go to another full service campground about 10-15 minutes away and try to clear the block at the sani-dump. Spoiler alert, that did not work. Lessons learned in this chapter; travel with a snake tool, use only RV toilet paper and less of it, get a better plunger, add digester to your tank.

It was now Tuesday evening and we decided to call it a day after 1 night of camping and 2 very full days. We had plans to stop in a nearby little town on our way home to visit cute vintage shop, so we thought we might as well do that one day early. We were wrong... closed Tuesdays.

So we headed back home and I jokingly said wouldn't it be funny if the block cleared on the bouncy winding trip home? And that folks is exactly what happened. We unpacked Myrtle and headed home to very hot showers. Today we picked up all the items from Canadian Tire that we wished we had on this trip. I hope we don't need them.

voyagevixenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05960507105605134915noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8769653795464228204.post-69851202726865212322021-09-10T17:10:00.001-07:002021-09-10T20:40:57.693-07:00Parking Brake Mishap
Do not drive with the parking brake on or you too can spend the night camping in a parking lot waiting for a specialty tow truck. We are taking her original 318 Poly to a 408 cubic inch stroked poly. We explored many options before this including Hellephant / Viper / Demon / Magnum crates, restoring a street Hemi and even just a simple rebuild of her current engine.

Ultimately we decided to save her original, low mileage, strong engine that has served her well for over 50 years. The re-built motor will give more torque and horse power for those mountain roads and is totally bad ass. When the motor was stripped we discovered it was John Deere green! As you can see in the photos her block has been painted red in line with 1964 poly engines and converted to a vintage 4 barrel Weiand intake manifold. The engine is still being finished - updates to come!

Anyone can buy a new motorhome but I fell in love with this old girl Myrtle and I wanted to save her heart. We knew this would not be the cheapest and easiest route, but the best adventures are on the road less travelled. 💙

voyagevixenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05960507105605134915noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8769653795464228204.post-61938935107768155502020-01-05T21:08:00.001-08:002020-01-05T21:10:53.545-08:00Engine overhaul!<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">Last year Myrtle went into Dale Adams Automotive Specialists for a major engine overhaul. The goal is to stroke and bore her original 318 poly engine to a 408. This article gives an idea of the plan: How To Give A 318 Poly Engine More Power – Mopar’s Rodney Dangerfield Part 2 ! Below are two before overhaul pictures.
It involves: Jacking up on frame and letting suspension sag, on passenger front wheel turn wheels left, repeat the other way on left and lots of wiggling. Also it was jacked up quite a bit but that still doesn’t help with the tight clearance front to back and side to side around the bolts. On ours the driver side is also reverse lugs. Myrtle has a single hydraulic system with one Midland Ross brake booster; #C-462. Refurbished boosters are sold by a few companies. Unfortunately the first one we ordered online was not a match for our booster, as you can see from the photo below, it is smaller than our original one. It is stamped Midland #C-8400-4, and we will be looking to sell this refurbished one as it can not be returned for a refund.
Luckily we were able to connect with a local company in Calgary; Fleet Products/KBR Brakes, who were able to quickly identify the correct replacement and had one in stock! This company has an American counterpart as well; Power Brake Sales. This website was super helpful in trouble shooting and installation: http://dave78chieftain.com/MidlandRoss.html In addition our vintage Dodge Trucks resource book was quite helpful, a few excerpts are below:

The first was the fuel pump. There was some difficulty in getting it as the person working at the first place we tried was unable to look anything up with out a part number and insisted they were all electric, even though the mechanical fuel pumps are common on older trucks. Thankfully we found educated staff at the local Auto Value and got a Carter mechanical fuel pump replacement (part number M6866), which we installed ourselves. The pump was inexpensive, under $40.00.

The second pump was the water pump, which we discovered was broken, as we were heading out for our first camping trip of 2016. We apparently left it on for months with an empty tank, thus burning it out. The new one auto shut off. We found a SHURflo brand one (part number: 4008-171-E65) at an RV store on our way, planning to install it once we got set up at the campsite. A warning to others, confirm if your current water pump is wired for AC or DC. Our pump was DC and we bought an AC one. With some extra effort, we were able to make it work as we re-routed AC instead of DC. This pump was unfortunately far more expensive than the fuel pump, coming in at $330.00.
2015 - Camping in Banff, Alberta

I adore Myrtle but she has her difficulties. I see many people very eager to get a Travco without considering the work involved. I understand this, I fell in love with a 1963 model and became obsessed with buying one. We had never owned an RV before and we had no idea about the costs, work, and time needed. None of this discouraged us from eventually purchasing Myrtle, for $5000.00, and driving her home to Alberta from Montana, in 2008. Her interior was very complete, she was in working condition, and made the 800+ KMS drive home. However, as we found out later she still needed a lot more in immediate repairs plus the regular ongoing maintenance. I don't want to discourage anyone else from buying one of these lovely old motorhomes, but I want to share some things to consider before making the commitment. To be successful with a Travco you need the following; time, money, patience, and either mechanical and renovation skills, or more money. And even with more money, it is advisable to have at least some mechanical skills to source parts and take care of more minor on the road issues. In addition, I recommend good RV roadside assistance coverage, we opted for RV coverage via AMA.

When you buy a vintage motorhome you are buying both an antique car and an old house. With a vintage trailer you can tow it with a newer vehicle and take your time working on the 'house'. With an old motorhome you do not have that luxury; both the living quarters and mechanical need to be working or you will soon find yourself stranded. While we've never owned a vintage motorhome before Myrtle, we did rebuild a vintage car (1970 Dodge Dart) and we do many of our own house renovations. We also have the support, labour, and extra tools, of my husband's very talented parents.

Time: The old Travcos take more time for everything. From sourcing parts, to slower speed on the highway, to repairs and getting ready for the camping season, you must budget the time needed. And sometimes they may break down on the road which means extra time getting there or getting home. If you have good mechanical and home renovation skills then you will save money but spend more time working on your unit.

Money: There will be costs for parts and repairs. For example we have invested over $1000.00 just in new wood and stainless steel screws. The windshields are also very expensive to replace, so really check out the glass before purchase. Replacing Myrtle's windshield, and re-sealing the rear window cost over $3200.00 (and a bit of work to find a shop willing to do it locally!) Once in Canada she also needed to pass a safety inspection to be registered, and completing the necessary repairs for just this aspect was $8,800.00, beyond the many repairs we had already done ourselves. This included work on all brakes, steering, driveline, suspension, tires ($2600.00 here alone!), speedometer etc. We also later needed a new muffler and exhaust at a cost $700.00 (parts only), new exhaust manifold which we thankfully found used for $20.00, but it took many hours of our own labour to install both. You will also need the required tools for any repairs you want to do yourself, and place to do the repairs. Most storage facilities do not allow you to do mechanical work onsite, but thankfully we store ours on a family acreage.

Mechanical and Renovation Skills: We spent 2.5 years of regular work on Myrtle to get her to point that we could safely and comfortably camp in her, and we had the help of my husband's very skilled parents. We continue to do repairs and refinements yearly. To start, I definitely recommend looking into an electronic ignition to replace the ballast resistors which always seem to break (or travel with extra ones!) Sometimes the repairs are minor, like replacing the battery. However, as with all things Travco, that is not always as easy at it seems. Last year Myrtle broke down at the gas station on the way to our first camping trip of the season. Her batteries are inconveniently located under the floor behind the drivers seat, and have to be lifted up and over the holder while underneath the vehicle. The batteries are very heavy and this is a difficult maneuver. After removal, my husband had to take a cab with the batteries to a local store and purchase new ones, while I waited at the gas station with Myrtle blocking the pump. Our lesson from this is to trickle charge the batteries at the end of the summer season and to take a dry run around the block well in advance of the first trip of the next season. We also always travel with an extra battery.

You also can't easily get a part number from the current installed parts, so it is helpful to have working knowledge of mechanics to determine what will work. Record everything you do find that works including; the part number, where you purchased it, receipts, and I suggest a photo as well, because you may need another one in the future! For example windshield wiper motors and arms took quite a bit of hunting; the motors were found at a marine store and the arms found at Traction Heavy Duty Parts a division of NAPA. NAPA has actually been a terrific resource, especially the more experienced staff, who can help source needed items. If you do not have the mechanical skills and/or home renovation skills you will spend more time and may be challenged to find people willing to work on your Travco. We found a local garage, Dale Adams, that understands vintage vehicles and has a lift capable of lifting a Travco, for the aspects we can not repair/maintain ourselves, like suspension and wheels.

These costs and labour noted above do not take into account many other mechanical items and most of the interior which included the following and more; re-wired the entire unit, new plumbing including water tank, new subfloor, new floor tiles, new kitchen cabinets, rebuilt closet, new front seats (from a wrecked modern motorhome, which were then reupholstered), new seat belts, new benches, new mattress, replacing portions of the water damaged wood panelling, new ceiling, new insulation, new welded panels under driver/passenger seats, sanding the entire original wood and new wood walls and varnish, pulling and re-sealing every window (look into butyl tape!), 2 new roof vents, re-building 2 exterior access panels, reinstalling the exterior roof strip (which is a major source of water leakage and is something we recommend addressing ASAP), chroming the bumpers and badges etc. Myrtle's lovely original, gelcoat fibreglass also takes labour each year to get it looking in tip top shape (washing, cutting compound, polishing compound, wax). I am personally very wary of repainting these units, in addition to the cost, I am concerned about the long term durability of paint vs original gelcoat. You get the point; you need to have carpentry, flooring, electrical, mechanical, painting and related skills, or the budget to pay someone to do the work.

Other general tips; Consider the repairs, maintenance, completeness and condition of a unit before buying. Check out the rims, some units have split rims, which some people like to avoid, as it can be harder to find shops to work on them. (Myrtle had non-split rims but no spare rim, which was another adventure to locate, and took us to meet a lovely fellow Travconian in NYC!) Do not balk at an asking price until you understand the underlying costs and time. The bargain Travco maybe no bargain if you end up spending more time and money repairing it.

Another tip, find reference materials (shop manuals) for your specific engine and chassis; I suggest eBay or one of the automotive literature re-print companies. In the older models it will not likely be called a motorhome reference guide, but I have seen a few 1970's Dodge Motorhome chassis guides on eBay. The following book we have found to be invaluable in our restoration:

After all this, we love Myrtle. We love her comfort, vintage style, and thoughtful layout. We love taking her camping, to car shows and all the curious admirers. As far as vintage motorhomes go, we think the Travco is one of the best options with a steel frame, study chassis and fibreglass shell. Many other old motorhomes have a wood frame covered by siding. However, she still requires patience and care to ensure it is an enjoyable time. (To be fair, modern motorhomes require maintenance too). We view Myrtle as a hobby which makes the maintenance a bit more enjoyable. If you are still interested in this adventurous journey, check out the following resources to help you along the way: Dodge Travco Motorhome Lovers Facebook page, http://www.dodgetravcos.com, and if you have a 318 poly engine the Yahoo Poly Group and Polyspherical AKA Poly 318 Facebook group. After hearing about another method on http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/, we tried it out (link to the the post http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f54/using-zep-to-restore-oxidized-fiberglass-56598.html) Warning: try this on a small, inconspicuous part first - while it worked well for us I cannot guarantee the process.

Essentially we first washed Myrtle really, really, really well and used the Bar Keepers friend powdered cleanser to remove stains, and rinsed it really well. Then we used 6 coats of Zep High Traffic Floor Finish, which goes on much easier than car wax!. Going forward we anticipate just using one coat each year. A week later the results are still terrific! (Note it does not repair crazing, fill in cracks etc but it did bring out the colour of the fibreglass gelcoat and make it nice and shiny).
This brochure brings us five stories of American business. And how Dodge Commercial Travelers help keep them on the move. The brochure describes the salesroom on wheels used by International Minerals & Chemical Corporation, the showroom on wheels for GE's Voltage Regulator Business Section, a display room on wheels for Robertshaw Controls Company, a studio on wheels for the Boston Radio station WHDH, and the office/home on wheels for Gordon Morrison's ow film of manufacturers' representatives. Take a peek at the brochure for photos of each of these diverse applications.
Right now Dodge Commercial Traveler sales offices, field offices, etc., are doing for hundreds of businesses what yours could be doing for you: reaching more of your market as the mobile right arm of your business" (Page 2).

The brochure goes on to describe the many ways the Dodge Commercial Traveler is utilized; field research vehicle, mobile lab, sounds systems demonstrator, testing centre for students, annunciator exhibit, motorized bank branch. Other users include; Attorneys, beauty salons, candidates for public office, delicatessens, photographers, doctors, field offices, dog kennels, blood banks, various governmental agonies, and the United States Air Force. The units are custom crafted to the exact requirements of the purchaser. The brochure outlines standard specifications, standard equipment, and optional equipment available. It includes; axle capacities, exterior and interior measurements (height, width, length, wheelbase, weight).

I have not been fortunate enough to ever see a Dodge Commercial Traveler unit in real life, but the brochure offers some photo of the many unique configurations.
Ray Frank, founder of Frank Industries, also made up the name "motorhome" and went on to develop Xplorer Motorhomes. Mr. Frank has been inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame & Museum (RV/MH Heritage Foundation, Elkhart Indiana) as the father of the motorhome." These photos showcase an original Frank Motorhome. As you can see in the photos there are some shared elements between this early model and Myrtle including; the same Hehr side dinette windows, similar side vents to allow in cool air while driving, the dashboard dial setup, a push button transmission (although in the Frank it's down beside the driver's seat rather than beside the steering wheel), the grate above the dog house, sun visors, rearview mirror (although in the Frank it is mounted on the dash and in Myrtle it is from the ceiling), furnace controller, kitchen vent, stove and possibly fridge. The wing-like symbol on the exterior is the same as the one on Myrtle's glove box.
We originally thought of her ballast resistors but then remembered we had upgraded her to a new electronic ignition. We picked up a new starter relay from Napa (part #SR4) and installed it. She starts up great!
You will notice that her windshields and side cab windows have been replaced. The original windows leaked a lot and the windshields were cracked. You can read about the replacement process here: New Glass. Myrtle did have her front cab seats but they were small, not well mounted and lacked shoulder belts. We put in new seats, that came from a wrecked modern motorhome, and had them recovered un funky gold and bronze vinyl. We also installed brand new seat belts, with shoulder belts.

Another new addition is the orange couch. Myrtle was missing her dinette and original couch when we got her. The couch was found at a second hand store and actually folds down into a bed. We built it in so it is not movable. The brown cushions are the original cushions from her original couch which we have place on the newly built wood bench (with storage inside).
The lower cabinets and drawers in the kitchen area were rebuilt (new drawers and new fronts on the cabinets). We painted the interiors blue in order to find things easier and it looks neat. The closet has new doors and the small cabinet area beside it was rebuilt with new shelves and doors. All the doors are outfitted in copper coloured vintage pulls (not original to Myrtle). Within the lower closet area, hidden from view, are Myrtle's two 6 volt, golf cart batteries, and her sine wave inverter, for her solar power system (2 panels on the roof). Luckily Myrtle has retained her lovely original light fixtures which now sport modern LED lightbulbs.

The bathroom remains untouched and original. The bed area used to have a small cabinet at the head with a sliding door. It was not needed so we removed it and but in a custom made mattress that fills the entire area. It's great to have some more leg room. Underneath the bed is a new water tank.
Through out Myrtle you will notice vintage decorations, linen and kitchenware. Her front curtains are vintage and were found in brand new condition. Her rear curtains are also vintage but were in a little ore worn condition when found. All curtains have been back with new protective materials and cut and sewn to size. Myrtle even has matching curtains to cover her cab area at night. Myrtle is also outfitted with a variety of vintage touches; white and blue starburst pattern dishes, Catherine Holm pots, a turquoise electric mixer, assorted canisters etc.
We spent a terrific 3 nights camping in the townsite of our favourite National Park: Waterton Lakes National Park. From our calculations Myrtle did about 9 miles per gallon. We intend to do some more major engine work on her at some point so we will see if that makes a difference on her MPG. She did well on the trip there and back, about 540 kms roundtrip.

We made two videos of her at the campground, one exterior and one interior. The exterior is below and shows off some details such as her replaced windshields, tires, and her freshly waxed, original, gelcoat, fibreglass.
We got off to a late start as we spent the morning replacing her broken exhaust manifold. We lucked out and found a replacement exhaust manifold a few years ago. At that time we replaced the other side which was broken, this year it was time for this side! The bolts were hard to remove and some had to be drilled out.
I had thought we'd lost the original photos of Myrtle as she appeared when we bought her, 5 years ago. I was pleasantly surprised to re-discover them today! As you can see from the photos we have done a lot to improve the interior. She now has new coach chairs (complete with new re-inforced floor underneath and shoulder/lap seat-belts), new flooring, a new (vintage) fold down couch, built a bench and kept the original couch cushions, new fronts to the cabinets/closets (and some interior portions rebuilt), new bed area with new custom built mattress, replaced portions of the wall panels (an re-stained all to match) and on and on. We have kept the kitchen table but we no longer use it, we have a small vintage stand alone table that we pull out when needed. We do plan on re-installing the mini-table that was above the 'dog house' (engine compartment), with some modifications to hold cups.
I thought I'd share a few photos of Myrtle's kitchen, including a before and during renovation shot. The one piece fibreglass counter top remains in good condition. The sink is original but we replaced the faucet. (We have also redone much of the plumbing system with fresh lines). She has her original Trav'ler stove and Dometic fridge. We have not hooked up either of these yet, but they appear to be in good condition.

The drawers and cabinets on her kitchen side were all rebuilt as the existing wood was crumbling. The walls that could be salvaged were stripped down, and all the old and new wood surfaces were stained to match. We opted to go with a darker stain than her original wood. We replaced the existing drawer hardware with vintage copper colored pulls. The interior of the drawers are painted a bright blue, which adds a little surprise, and makes it easier to see inside.

We have outfitted Myrtle's kitchen with vintage pots and pans, flatware, dishes, canisters and assorted other retro comforts.voyagevixenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05960507105605134915noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8769653795464228204.post-73674783930194811732012-11-15T20:32:00.004-08:002012-11-15T20:33:58.800-08:00Myrtle's friend ButtercupWe had the good fortune to meet Buttercup, the 1968 210 Travco, and her awesome owner. Buttercup is 21 feet long and is neatly tucked into her Brooklyn driveway. Buttercup is lucky to have a knowledgable owner and I look forward to following her transformation on her blog: http://www.carsgozoom.com/buttercup/about/.
We had previously purchased seven 17.5 inch Yokohama Y785R tires. However, these tires may not currently be available. It only uses small sticks, which we easily collected or splintered off of a log. The design is ingenious, using a small fire powered fan to keep the flames full of oxygen and burning steady. But wait there's more! The stove actually does charge small electrical devices. I charged my iPhone whenever a good fire was going.

Biolite is a great camp stove and a great addition to our Emergency Preparedness Kit.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
voyagevixenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05960507105605134915noreply@blogger.com1
